A new industrial park for high-tech production to be built near Karlovy Vary
This is the second operation in the Czech Republic for Wacker, which has been operating in Pilsen since 2007. The group focuses on the production of specialty products for use in high-growth markets, including photovoltaics, electronics, automotive, construction, electrical engineering, renewable energy, and pharmaceuticals. In Karlovy Vary, it will process silicone compounds for further processing into final products such as insulating elements for electric vehicle batteries, sealing elements for electronic components, and silicones for medical and healthcare applications.
In the first phase, Wacker will create up to 200 jobs in the new production, research and development facility.
"The new plant in Karlovy Vary will be very important for our silicone activities in Europe. Tailor-made silicone elastomers are needed where conventional materials can no longer meet the ever-increasing demands of industries,"
says Wacker Silicones President Thomas Koini.
The new project will aspire to the international BREEAM New Construction sustainability certification at the Excellent level. The building will be equipped with modern technologies that reduce energy consumption and ensure a high level of environmental friendliness. These include heat pumps, photovoltaics, heat recovery and rainwater harvesting.
"Our aim is to bring companies that bring significant added value to the region. People with a secondary school diploma and a university education will find employment here to a greater extent,"
says the Governor of the Karlovy Vary Region Petr Kulhánek.
The Accolade investment group in cooperation with the Panattoni development company has been focusing on the implementation of industrial complexes in the Karlovy Vary Region for a long time. Over the last 10 years, investments have been made in nearly 300,000 m2 of manufacturing, e-commerce and logistics space. The value of the projects handed over exceeds CZK 7.5 billion and properties worth approximately CZK 9 billion are currently under construction.
"The Karlovy Vary Region was one of the locations where we started investing in the construction of industrial complexes. This type of complex was missing for a long time directly in Karlovy Vary, so this is our first venture here. After years of negotiations with Wacker, we have managed to attract sophisticated manufacturing to the town, which will give a big economic boost to the whole region."
added Milan Kratina, Accolade CEO.
