Vitesco Technologies to open production plant with automated logistics centre in Ostrava-Hrušov
The investment in the form of the plant of this manufacturer of drive technologies and electrification solutions goes beyond the borders of the region, as confirmed by the Minister of Industry and Trade of the Czech Republic Jozef Síkela:
"My long-term goal is to contribute to the adaptation of the Czech economy to the ongoing economic transformation. Therefore, we need to support investments in technologically advanced projects with high added value that will help us to do so. I believe that expanding the production of hi-tech components for cars at Vitesco Technologies will contribute to this. I welcome their close collaboration with a number of engineering colleges and research institutions, which contributes to the development of advanced technology and technical education for our students, and the fact that they are an important part of the supply chain of chip technologies manufactured in our country."
The new Vitesco Technologies plant will involve other local companies in the supply chain. For example, silicon carbide semiconductors will be supplied by onsemi Rožnov pod Radhoštěm. The two companies previously announced a €1.75 billion collaboration.
The plant's main products will be new parts for next-generation electric vehicles, which will be sourced from major European car manufacturers. For them, Vitesco Technologies will develop high-tech, high-voltage electronic products for pure battery electric vehicles. The latest technologies will also be used in the plant itself, which will boast a high degree of robotics and process automation.
"This unique and technologically very complex power electronics system, integrating a voltage converter, on-board charger, fast charging module and power distribution unit in one place, is a perfect example of the transformation of vehicle architecture away from combustion systems. It is a completely new element developed and designed exclusively for electric vehicles,"
describes the product portfolio of the new plant Lukáš Rosůlek, head of country Vitesco Technologies.
The plant represents another key investment for the company in the Czech Republic, which confirms the company's forward-looking investment plan for the development of electromobility and electrification in the Czech Republic. The total investment will amount to CZK 14.4 billion by 2027.
