Drylock uses solar energy in VGP Park Hrádek nad Nisou
VGP, a European developer and owner of semi-industrial and logistics properties, is working with its tenants to make their projects more sustainable and energy efficient. An ideal example is the photovoltaic power plant just approved on the roof of Drylock's newest hall at VGP Park Hrádek nad Nisou, which covers an area of 28,000 m2 and has an output of 2,811.9 kWp. Sustainability and energy self-sufficiency of the portfolio under construction are among VGP's main objectives.
The installation consists of a total of 6,180 panels, each with an output of 455 Wp. This green electricity will cover part of the consumption of the production site.
In addition to the establishment of photovoltaics, a number of other initiatives have been implemented on the park to support the local ecosystem. One of them is the revitalisation of the flowering meadow, which includes the installation of bee hives, as well as the construction of an insect hotel or stone walls for reptiles. At the same time, a retention basin was built to maintain a constant water level. This reservoir has created a natural pond with stone paving on the edges that blends in with the surrounding landscape.
VGP also actively supports the local infrastructure and the cultivation of the surrounding area of the park in Hrádek nad Nisou. It has built a roundabout, a 500-metre-long walkway to Oldřichov na Hranice with storm water drainage and LED public lighting, as well as a new sewage system. During this construction, new fruit trees were planted along the road to Oldřichov and an earthen noise barrier was created. The company also created a rest area with seating "At the Cross - Richter's Cross" to serve local residents.
Drylock, the world's leading manufacturer of baby nappies and toiletries, is the long-term majority tenant of the park. A total of five custom-built sheds have been gradually implemented since 2011. The company currently occupies 116,000 sqm of manufacturing, logistics and office space with the possibility of further expansion by a final 6,000 sqm. Drylock is a fast-growing company with headquarters in Belgium and additional facilities in Italy, Spain, the USA and Brazil. However, it operates its flagship production plant in Hrádek nad Nisou. Through innovation and sustainable production solutions, it meets the highest consumer expectations for hygienic products while being environmentally friendly.
