Urbanity Campus Tachov received the prestigious award of the Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Czech Republic awarded in the Building of the Year competition of the Pilsen Region

The Urbanity real estate group received another award for an exceptional achievement in industrial architecture and a novel revitalization of a brownfield. On 12 September, the GAMA building at Urbanity Campus Tachov was awarded the prestigious prize of the Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Czech Republic in the Building of the Year of the Pilsen Region competition, which was received at the ceremony by Markéta Šimáčková, COO and Deputy CEO, and Roland Hofman, co-founder and CEO of Urbanity.

A total of 34 buildings were entered in this year's Building of the Year competition of the Pilsen Region, 18 of them were nominated for the award. In the category of the Award of the Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Czech Republic, the jury decided to award Urbanity for the construction of the architecturally interesting and user-friendly GAMA production hall in Tachov.

"Winning this award is a great recognition for us and a confirmation of our efforts to create quality and sustainable industrial campuses. We are also delighted that the jury has recognised the architectural and sustainable aspect that contributes to the development of the region and positively influences the quality of life of local residents," says Roland Hofman, Co-Founder & CEO of Urbanity.

The jury appreciated the high quality design of the facade of the new hall, including the administrative facilities, which goes beyond the current trends of industrial buildings. The latter is usually characterised by facades without architecture, designed mostly on purpose using flat panels. The GAMA hall, on the other hand, has a generous facade in terms of design and materials. The jury was also impressed by the modern technical solutions including rooftop photovoltaics, battery storage, intelligent control and regulation systems and smart LED lighting. The campus received plus points for the design of the surrounding area with plenty of greenery and relaxation zones.

"I think the people of Tachov can be proud today and I am glad that the Tachov campus received this award. A big thank you to all those who have been involved with us in the implementation of this project and with whose help we have been able to create a truly modern and innovative campus in Tachov," said Markéta Šimáčková, Chief Operating Officer of Urbanity.

The Construction of the Year of the Pilsen Region competition is held under the auspices of the Governor of the Pilsen Region and the Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Czech Republic. The award has been presented by the Pilsen Region since 2009. The aim of the competition is to acquaint the general public with the level of construction and architecture in the Pilsen Region and to promote quality complex realizations from the architectural concept to the craft detail.

Urbanity Campus Tachov represents a new generation of industrial complexes that make comprehensive use of brownfield sites. It has also become the first industrial campus in the Czech Republic to achieve the prestigious BREEAM Communities certification for sustainable urban areas and public spaces, the highest rating in Central and Eastern Europe.

The campus in Tachov is an architecturally impressive and user-friendly production hall built with an emphasis on the application of modern technologies and the use of ecological elements, while meeting all strict technical aspects. This campus is an integral part of the city, providing services not only to its employees but also to the local community. There is, for example, a race doctor and relaxation areas or a children's group that significantly supports the pre-school education of children from local families.
